The Deloitte Ethics Case Competition gives students the opportunity to analyse an organisation and consult its management on an ethical issue. Participating students will gain analysis, presentation and team-work skills.

Format

Team Size: Four people
Preparation Time: Three Hours
Prensentation: Ten minutes, followed by ten minutes of Q&A.

All team members must speak at some time during the presentation. No external materials will be allowed into the preparation room. Teams prepare slides on paper and use the document camera to present.

Dates

Preliminary Rounds: Monday 3rd September - Friday 7th September
Semi Finals: Saturday 8th September
Finals: Sunday 9th September

Preparation

It is highly recommended that you attend tutorials and attempt at least one practice case prior to the competition. There will be three tutorials prior to the competition. Times, locations and subjects covered will be advised via email, if you are a registered member of MCC.

In addition to the tutorials, you may also pursue one of the following options:

• Coaching: A coach can elaborate on the tutorial content, including the Auckland Model for approaching a case. A coach can also watch practice sessions and give helpful feedback. All coaches have completed the development programme.
• Practise Case Days: Practice Case Days will be held in the week prior to the competition. The format is similar to the competition itself, except that it is more relaxed and there is more opportunity for feedback and discussion after you present. Practice Case Days cost $10 per team to cover photocopy expenses.

Due to the popularity of the Deloitte Ethics Case Competition teams must choose either coaching or Practice Case Days.

Practice cases will be available for your team to view prior to the competition. We will email when these are available to be collected. All practice cases must be returned before you can compete and there is a maximum of one case per team available for loan at any time.
